Abstract

Current research work was conducted for inheritance study of different morphometric traits in 15 X 15 half diallel cross excluding reciprocals. Fifteen parental lines Moroco, Avocit-YRA, Auqab-2000, Kohistan-97, Pirsabak-08, Margalla-99, Sehar-2006, Chakwal-86, Galaxy-13, Local white, Pak-81, Lasani-2008, Faisalabad-08, BARS-2009 and Mairaj-08 were crossed in half diallel fashion during growing season 2016-17, F1 evaluated in 2017-18 and F2 in 2018-19. Analysis of variance indicated significant mean squares for all traits conferring high diversity among parents. Inheritance study revealed additive type of gene action for plant height (F1), fertile tiller/plant (F2), harvest index, stay-green trait, 1000 grain weight and peduncle length. Important role of dominance variance for controlling gene expression was found in days to flowering, plant height (F2), flag leaf area, fertile tiller/plant (F1) and number of kernels/spikes.
