Landscape of Clinical Trials Registry in Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan-(DRAP)

Abstract

To study the kind and trend of clinical trials registered with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), as well as the relevance of clinical trial registration in the discipline of dentistry. Methods-A Retrospective Study was done by the department of Community Dentistry, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro. The Study included the different Phases, Phase I to Phase IV. These Phases includes, a total of 36 approved clinical trials that were registered in DRAP. The information of clinical trial registration was extracted from database that includes the number of trials registered in CTR-DRAP. Results- DRAP filled several clinical trials, including four clinical trials in Phase I, seven clinical trials in Phase II, twenty clinical trials in Phase III, and three clinical trials in Phase IV. The SARS CoV-19 coronavirus was linked to 12 clinical studies. Six of these clinical studies were concerned with COVID-19 patient therapy, five with COVID-19 patient prevention, and one with COVID-19 patient diagnosis. Four clinical investigations were conducted in the field of gynaecology, and 20 clinical studies were conducted in the department of medicine. Conclusion- This research was created to examine the landscape of all trials being undertaken in various medical subspecialties and to stimulate the development of patentable ideas. It was also discovered that there is a lesser number of clinical trial registrations in the dentistry.
