Abstract

Topiroxostat is a selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor developed for the treatment and management of hyperuricemia and gout it regulates purine metabolism and results in reduction of serum urate levels. The main objective was to develop simple, precise and economical methods for the estimation of Topiroxostat in tablet dosage form. UV-visible Spectrophotometric determination was performed with Thermo scientific GENESYS 10S single beam spectrophotometer and detected absorbance mode at 208 nm. The spectrum of the standard solution was run from 200-400nm range for the determination of λmax and was found at 208nm. Different validation parameters such as Linearity, Accuracy, LOD and LOQ. Linearity for the UV-visible Spectroscopy was noted in the concentration range of 5-25µg/ml and mean correlation coefficient of 0.9993. Accuracy was found to be 1.008%- 0.912%. For both methods a low relative standard deviation (<2%) was found for both precision and robustness and mean % recovery by UV method was found to be 100.2% and 99.86%,100.5%. Thus, the methods are accurate and reproducible and can be employed for routine analysis of Topiroxostat from tablet dosage form.
