NANDHINI SAHUS SOCIAL RESPONSE - A STUDY ON POETRY

. C. MOTHILAL DINESH, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH, ADITANAR COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE, TIRUCHENDUR, THOOTHUKUDI, TAMIL NADU.

Abstract

The voice of women should awake the intrinsic value, dignity and honour of each individual in this social milieu not as a feminist but as a humanist. Nandini Sahu responds with her pen to the society as she understands that, more than the irresponsible androcentric society, it is the female, who is more responsible for the consequence of social conduct, who addresses the malignant persecution of the society often based on race, religion, sexuality, social beliefs and its discrimination; but feminists try to proliferate an insurgent mode only against virility and to emancipate subservient women. The critical vantage point seems to be ostensibly notorious that the cumulative consequence of women empowerment results in the appraisal of womanhood to claim for equality to achieve superiority. She chokes and suffocates of being a woman in this abandoned earth, abandoned only for women and taken to exile not to anywhere else but to cruel society which is associated with male- cruel society. Sahu expounds her anger against the social evils such as dehumanization, corruption, degradation and poverty. As a humanist, she addresses this tremendous change of non-violence to violence as a rebel, she voices against the futility through her poetry.
