Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the reality of the complementary relationship between the family (parents of students in the primary and middle schools) to raise learning outcomes in the basic skills of the targeted subjects (reading, mathematics, science) and to reveal statistical differences in the level of the complementary partnership between the family and the school that are attributed to gender and school stage. The study followed the descriptive survey method. The study population consisted of all male and female teachers in primary and middle schools in the city of Riyadh during the third semester of the academic year 1446 AH. The study sample consisted of (388) male and female teachers who were selected using a simple random sampling method. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was constructed, consisting of (36) statements, measuring three dimensions of the integrative partnership (in preparing for the national tests “NAFES”, in preparing and planning for the national tests “NAFES”, the role of the school administration in activating participation to raise the learning outcomes in the target subjects for the student). The results of the study showed a high degree for the level of partnership, reaching (3.59), and the highest degree was for the role of the school administration in activating participation to raise learning outcomes in the target subjects for the student, with a (very high) degree, with an average of (4.29), while preparation for national tests appeared as “competitive” with a (medium) degree. Its arithmetic mean value reached (3.26), and in preparing and planning national tests (medium) its arithmetic mean value reached (3.23). No  statistically significant difference at the significance level(α ≤ 0.01) between the partnership averages, due to gender, exception sharing Parents in preparing and planning benefit of females. Differences were also found attributable to the stage in the overall degree of the integrated partnership and to the role of the school administration in activating participation for the benefit of middle schools. The two researchers presented some recommendations related to the results of the study.
