Abstract

This study examined the emerging technologies and the global business competitiveness of e-commerce businesses in South-South and South-West Nigeria. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design. Quantitative data were collected from 302 respondents across e-commerce and digital service firms using a structured questionnaire on a 5-point Likert scale, and the study hypotheses were tested using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS 4.1.1.4. The findings show that emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data analytics significantly enhance competitiveness by improving revenue growth, market exposure, employee productivity, and customer satisfaction. The study concludes that strategic adoption of emerging technologies is essential for improving the competitiveness of e-commerce firms in Nigeria’s increasingly digital global economy, and recommends strategic investment and supportive policy frameworks to strengthen Nigeria’s e-commerce business ecosystem.
