Abstract

Irrational use of antibiotics has led to an increase in the rate of occurrence of Surgical Site Infection (SSI). The right choice of antibiotics and its dose, route, frequency and duration constitute the decision-making factor in prescribing rational antibiotic therapy for surgical patients in preventing surgical site infections.
